People often use the terms coaching, counseling, or therapy interchangeably, but there are major differences.  Coaching integrates elements of cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused approaches in working with couples so they can achieve the results they want. Coaches help couples move from where they are to where they want to be.  It is best for couples who need improved skills and may be stuck in old patterns.  Counseling and therapy are for couples who need more specialized help to address past hurts, mental health issues, or other behaviors that are beyond coaching. This chart helps break down the differences.
